Tara Smartnick is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She began studying dance at the age of three, and holds national titles in Team Dance, Solo Work, and Ballroom Partnering.  In 2005 she moved to LA to continue her education, there she trained with some of the most prestigious teachers and choreographers on the west coast. After high school she moved to Texas to attend college, and earned a degree in Multimedia Technology.

Tara began to study aerial arts in March of 2012 with Aerial Horizon, and believes she found her true calling. She started her professional career performing above Dolphins and Beluga Whales at SeaWorld San Antonio’s show, “Azul” for four years.  In 2016 Tara spent a semester abroad where she was one of twelve participants selected to train with one of Ireland’s biggest aerial dance companies. There she was able to create an act, and refine her artistry on her invented apparatus, an aerial moon.

In 2018 Tara quit her regular jobs to pursue performing full time.  She currently teaches, choreographs, and performs professionally with several companies all over the Southwest United States. Whether it’s dance on the ground, or in the air, Tara enjoys every moment, and hopes to continue this amazing adventure for years to come.
